On the side - astronavigation

Some years ago I acquired used Freiberger sextant at a very good price. It had its horizon mirror totally destroyed and index mirror also shown some deterioration. I’ve replaced them with new ones (from Holland) and now the equipment is fully functional.

I struggled to master the concept of astronavigation but available books and videos were too focused either on every detail of each step or on blindly following some cheat-tables and putting numbers in monkey-style way to get the fix without understanding the whole concept.

Only recently I stumbled upon video on YouTube where the overall concept - and final “trick” - is explained in straightforward way.
